While we believe the Lord calls us to work, we also believe the Lord calls us to rest.

At The Intention Church, we remain fully committed to your wholeness. We understand that to be whole, there must be a time of rest to do things that refuel us, recharge us, and bring us joy. To demonstrate our commitment to this practice, we wish to take off any month that has a 5th Sunday. We will call this practice “Sabbath Sunday.”

We do this intentionally by creating a space that allows for families and individuals to rest. The Scriptures implement the Sabbath in Creation in Genesis 2:1-3 “Thus the heavens and the earth were finished and all their multitude. On the sixth day God finished the work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all the work that he had done. So God blessed the seventh day and hallowed it, because on it God rested from all the work that he had done in creation.”

Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”

Sabbath is promise and provision. Because of this your rest not only matters to God, it matters to us at The Intention Church.

I doubt you need guidance how to spend this Sabbath Sunday, but just in case, here are a few ideas:

1. Spend time with your family or loved ones.
2. Reconnect with someone who has been on your mind.
3. Spend time in nature by going on a walk to connect with God’s creation.
4. Meditate on Gensis 2:1-3, Matthew 11:28, or another one of your favorite scriptures.
5. Do nothing.

Beloved, whatever you do or don’t do, please know that you are loved. We look forward to gathering with you next week!
